Portion perfection for kids meals: Why it’s important to get it just right!

Ever felt like trying to figure out the perfect portion size for kids is like solving a puzzle with pieces that never quite fit?

We get it—finding that sweet spot between too much and too little can seem like a tricky task.

At Wellbeing Food Co, we know that while every child’s appetite might vary, getting portion sizes just right is key to healthy eating.

That’s why we’ve used real-life feedback and data to ensure our meals are perfectly portioned, without the guesswork.

Our new Spring/Summer menu is designed with carefully calculated portion sizes to meet the nutritional needs of children at different ages while minimising food waste.

By analysing data from childcare centres and considering expert feedback, we’ve crafted portions that are just right for growing bodies. As part of this, we’ve introduced larger servings for the 3-5 age group – providing more for growing appetites!

Our goal is to provide balanced, nutritious meals that cater to the needs of children without excess calories.

For example, take our Lamb Kofta with Vegetables. Each serving is thoughtfully designed to provide the right amount of protein, vegetables, and grains for a child’s developmental stage.

The portion size includes:

  • Balanced protein: The lamb kofta provides a hearty, protein-rich component that’s neither too large nor too small, helping children meet their daily protein needs without excess.
  • Vegetable variety: Paired with a mix of colourful vegetables, this dish ensures a variety of nutrients and fibre, supporting digestion and overall health.
  • Perfectly portioned couscous: Served with just the right amount of couscous, this component complements the protein and veggies, providing energy without overwhelming portions.

Educating children about portion sizes helps them recognise their hunger and fullness cues, promoting healthy eating habits.

By offering meals with precisely measured portions, we support balanced nutrition and help children develop a positive relationship with food.

Our new menu offers perfectly portioned meals to meet children needs while eliminating the guesswork from mealtime.
